Hi there
I had the most wonderful experience this weekend. I was invited to my friend's Wedding in Georgia, near Russia. Nadia is Georgian, but we met when we were studying together in Bath. Unfortunately, the other friends that we share couldn't make it to Georgia for the wedding, but there were three other 'foreigners' there that I didn't know - an English guy, A Japanese guy and a Norwegien girl. We had the most sensational time and were pretty much treated as guests of honour for the whole weekend.
During the evening party, a five piece male choir sang (a bit like G4 - but in Georgian) and then there were other musicians during the night.... then Nadia asked me to sing!
It was a wonderful experience. There were 350 people there. Hardly any of them spoke English, which meant I could get away with singing a sad song at celebration (because no one understood the lyrics!) I think some of the others took photographs, so if I can, I'll put some up on myspace.
The Georgian people are so embracing - if you ever get the chance to go - I recommend you do!
All the best
Jayne
